ARMY FOOTBALL.
5 REPORT FROM EGYPT. F- ... ~ Administrative difficulties of Army football in Egypt were mentioned in a letter , from Lieut. -Colonel T. J. King, which was head at a meeting 11)1 if the Management Committee of the '-'■Wellington Rugby Union. Games, the better said, were played in temperatures of 90 degrees in the shade, on lard-baked grounds, and in sandshoes. “Motorised selectors” were described —selectors who followed play isj c ,ip and down the field on a motor.ruck. A game with a Welsh team, won by the New Zealanders, was subject of comment. It was stated that the final natch against the Welsh team stressed that the New Zealanders knew lit;le about scrummaging, the Welshmen looking the ball in the same manner is the 1937 Springboks and with the same , speed. To counteract this, the New Zealanders, in the second spell, ipkicked the ball through the Welsh scrum, - broke quickly and were able to harass the opposition into mistakes. H.S. Headings
