Dominion President’s Message

Dearly Beloved of God,

My heart’s desire is that you will be strengthened with might by His Spirit to wage a good warfare. As I put pen to paper just wondering what God would have me write, 1 am urged to encourage and to inspire you to go on, for it will be all worthwhile. There is so much in the world that would tend to ease us up. YVc are women of faith, so let us visualise a large army of temperance workers rising up and going out in full force, to rid the land of the evils of alcohol. It can. he done quickly if you will demonstrate faith, “They that know their God shall do exploits”. Beloved, life never stands still in our communities; be it religious or otherwise there are periods of expansion anj there is need for development to meet new demands. There is a tremendous power in the universe and this power can dwell in your personality, "For greater is He that is in you than He that is in the world,” and again, “If God he for us, who can be against us?” As women, we are given opportunities for the discovery of our own capabilities and tor self - development that will help us to become a power for social and moral progress. It gives us an avenue through which we can wage successful warfare upon the enemies of the home. Youth work is paying dividends and our women must carry some responsibility in the expansion of children's work on a wider scale than we have done. The educational approach to temperance is probably now the most effective, and lays the firmest foundation in character and for society. !f we are to make it our approach we must sympathetically understand young people and be spiritual fathers and mothers to those who cross our pathway each day. God grant us grace and wisdom to do some worthwhile work for thr extension of His Kingdom. • Let us remember our Campaign for 1,000 new “White Ribbon” subscribers and send in your numbers for publication. I would urge all Unions to make a special effort for new members, so that we may have one glorious project to combat extension of hotel hours, reinstatement of barmaids, and wine in restaurants, and not be found wanting when the time for action should come. I would suggest and urge, that individual members canvass the streets in which they live, going to the people fully armed with what the outcome will be, should these suggestions become law. YVe must have the numerical strength, telling out, too, with no uncertain sound that prohibition gained 9,000 new votes at the last Poll In the light of the tremendous out-pouring of propaganda by the Licensed Trade, the results can he considered most satisfactory. May God bless you, ever holding the temperance torch shining until He come. Yours in the Master’s Service, Olive Richards.
