Mrs. J. 1 revarton gave interesting and enlightening address about temperance work in Christian youth organixations, such as Girls’ Life Brigade and Cadets. Schischka, with Mrs. Busbrnige at the piano; and by Les. Powell. As guest sneaker, the Rev. J. S. Oki* based his veiy fine address on “Ye are the salt of the earti ." A vote of thanks was moved by Mr. W. R. Grant, who paid tribute to the Band of Hope work and the value of temj«cr* ance work. Mrs. Skelton cut the pretty cake, made and iced by Mrs. C. VV. Phillips. Bouquets presented to the artists by the President. Happy successful function. Auckland District Executive, Sept. Fifteen Unions repre* rented, with Mrs. Richards presiding. Mrs. Christopher led in devotions. Mrs. Mount joy reported on N.C.W. and Maori Girls’ Hostel work. Members to help in street appeal for Merchant Navy and Life-saving Appeal. Remits discussed, and Dist. Convention arrangements considered. Auckland Dist. Executive, October. Mrs. Richards presided and devotions taken by Miss Appleby. The W.C.T.U. stall at the Ellen Melville and Pioneer Women’s Fair resulted in over £2O being raised, and Mrs. Richards thanked Unions for their splendid resjonse. Takapuna, Sept. 25th. A pleasant afternoon was spent at the home of Mrs. Petchell to farewell the Secretary and I reasurer, Mrs. E. Trussing, and her daughter Pam, who, with Mr. Prussing, were leaving by the Monowai for a short holiday in Sydney. Remuera, Sept. 26th. Mrs. Richards, District President, presided. Mrs. Ibbetson took the devotions. Members donated gifts for the Ellen Melville and Pioneer Women’s Hall Fair. Ihis being the annual meeting, the following officers were elected: Pres., Mrs. A. L. Members all praved briefly, and repeated favourite verses of Scrij»ture. Mrs. Richard* conduct'd the Public Speaking study; Miss Appleby read a paper on Medical Temperance, and subject was discussed. Second year since the two l nions combined, and our report shows a successful year. 56 financial members, 40 W.R. subscribers and C.R. of 133. Meetings varied and interesting. Notable days observed and offerings taken. Delegate attended Dom. Convention, and all dist. Executives attended. Union became affiliated to N.C.W., with two representatives. Union had charge of Rest lent at A. & P. Show. leaflets setting out our aims and urging co-o|>eration distributed among Christian women. Appeal met with come success, and at least six members l>ronnsed. W.R. copies placed in Library and Rest Room. Aj>j>reciation exj>ressed to Mrs. G. Holmes for many years’ service as Rec. Secretary, and small gift presented with esteem of members.

Timaru, Sept. Mrs. Smith presided. Increase retorted in membership, W.R. subscribers and Cradle Roll. Year’s devotions have been most inspiring. Members assisted at street day ajtpeals. Full reports of N.C.W. meetings given, and of the N.Z. Alliance. Much publicity of our work given in daily papers. Sailors’ Rest continues to be of much value to visiting seamen. Literature and W.R.s given to «\ Schools and hosjntal patients. Mrs. Densem thanked Mrs. Smith for her valuable work over the year. All members had co-o|«er-ated with their officers and a successful year concluded. Officers re-elected.
