Auckland District Executive, Ist August. Mrs. A. T. Richards presided and led devotions. A letter of thanks and appreciation to be sent to Mr. H. W. Milner, Gen. Su| t., N.Z. Alliance, for his years of long and excellent service. Members to assist with stall for joint appeal of the Red Cross Society and Auckland Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Mountjoy gave an interesting rtjwrt of the Alliance Annual Meeting in Wellington, and also of the work at the Muon Girls’ Hostel and the Auckland N.C.W. meeting. A letter of sympathy to Miss J. Mrs. Morgan Richards, who has been a member of the W.C.T.U. for 40 years, was made a life member of our Union. Collection sent to New Plymouth Seamen’s Rest. Welcome to Mr. W. ,E. Roberts, guest speaker, who gave an interesting account of the workings of a Licensing Committee and the valuable work being done for the community. Remuera, July 25th. Mrs. G. Robinson presided. Devotions were conducted by Mrs. Ibbetson, and members also engaged in prayer. Mrs. Kasper gave' an interesting talk, which was much appreciated. Flowers were presented to her by Mrs. Robinson, and Mrs. Kelsey thanked Mrs. Kasjier for her inspiring talk. Tauranga, 33rd Birthday. Fifteen of the various women’s organisations were represented. The guest s(>eakrr was Miss McLay, of Rotorua, and Mrs. Christian presided. Pianoforte solos by Mrs. Kent, recitations by Mrs. Faulds, a hymn study by the Junior Choir members, a duet by a small boy and girl, and a confj*etition were much enjoyed. Mrs. Walsh, wife of our M.P., lit the candles on the cake, and they were blown out by Mrs. Wilkinson, the Mayoress. Miss McLay cut the cake. Greetings received from Miss Kirk. Wanganui Central, July. Mrs. Wilson occupied the chair in the absence of the President, and the devotional period was taken by Mrs. Robb. The meeting was in the form of a social afternoon, with a Bring and Buy Stall for the funds of the “White Ribbon”. £9 being raised for this purpose. Items were given by Miss Jarvis, Mrs. R. Wilson, Mrs. Spurdle, and Mrs. Jarvis. Mrs. E. D. Grounds, as guest speaker for the occasion, gave a helpful address. Levin. Mrs. A. C. Kennerley presided. Ten new members were enrolled and six members added to the C.R. An inspiring address was given by Mrs. ( apt. Nicholson on the subject, “The Light of God in Man”. Various aspects of W.C.T.U. work discussed. Riccarton, July. Mrs. Griffiths presided. Miss L. Hughes took opening devotions. A letter was read from the Dom. Corr. Secretary. It was decided to write to Hon. S. W. Smith and Hon. J. R. Marshall re State Lotteries. It was also decided to advertise our meetings in the “White Ribbon” and in the Riccarton “Advertiser” and over 3ZB Radio Station. On be? ilf of the members, Mrs. A. T. Newth presented Mrs. Griffith* with the gift of a “travelling companion” for her trip to England. New Brighton, July. Mrs. Wrighton presided and conducted devotions, prepared by Mrs. Edmond. Mental Hospital patients visited by Mrs. Edmond and «Mrs. Wrighton. Memorial Day wts observed and Captain Barclays of Salvation Army, sjxjke on the life of Commissioner Adelaide Cox, C.B.fe. Thanks expressed for a fine address. Oxford, July. Mrs. Dailey presided and Mrs. Jones conducted devotions. It was decided to protest against the suggestion of a State Lottery and any attempt to increase the hours of sale of liquor. Time was spent studying various departments of our work. Plans were made whereby the junior members’ library would be open on Thursday afternoons.

Timaru, July. Good attendance. Mrs. Smith preriued and Mrs. Sole lea devotions, the theme being "Courage”, in observing Memorial Day. Sailors’ Rest report stated that Mr. Woodward looks after the spiritual welfare of the seamen, as well as the physical. Biscuits from Hunter Institute gratefully received. A vote ii thanks passed and congratulations to the V.W.C.A. on work undertaker, for the teenagers. N.C.W. report given dealt with various aspects of work among women and children and the aged. Dunedin South, June. White Ribbon Day was held with members reading various cuttings. Report of N.C.W. was received. Collection for Mental Hospital patients. July. Church Women’s Guilds attended. Mrs. Flett, District President, spoke on the work of the Union. em|>hasising the many things for which the W.C.T.U. stands. Two members joined. Devotions, “Create in me a clean heart”. Mrs. Coulter, who is over 80, recited the “Walking, Talking Beer Barrel”.

Oamaru. August meeting made special feature of 70 years’ W.C.T.U. in N.Z. It was one of 15 Unions formed then. Lapsed for some years, so now* is 35 years old. Fiftv years of No-License in Oamaru mentioned by Mr. R. Brow- . .-tired business man. Items, a good attendance, afternoon tea with happy chatting made for a very pleasant meeting.
