THE BALLOT —A SACRED TRUST

The greatest possible force in any democracy today, is the ballot, for with it, most questions of state are settled and yet, “many good causes are lost by thousands of nobodies”—people who fail to take their stewardship seriously and therefore fail to register their vote. They become “nobodies” in the Government of their country. How many problems have been settled by just one vote. Too many people adopt the attitude that their one vote cannot make any difference. This is wrong thinking, for every vote must count. With regard to the Licensing Poll, public conscience must be awakened. Let us make every Christian come to see that the ballot in his hand is a SACRED TRUST; that his vote is a protest ,'gainst the evils of the Liquor Traffic.

“Eternal vigilance is still the price of liberty.” We must continue our vigilance and express our sentiments —but it matters little how we may feel on the subject, nor how ardently we believe in it, unless WE CAST OUR VOTE, when the opportunity affords, ... In deed and in truth, it is the hand that casts the ballot, that rules the world. (Christian Citizenship Dept.)
