The Devotional Period

Scripture Reeding: Hebrews 11. W.R. Hymnal: No. 71. Would anyone be so foolish as to say, “1 have no faith?" “Why! Every day we are exercising faith,” would be the reply. But it i c religious faith that Paul is writing about in he Book of Hebrews. No one can possibly be a Christian without it. “Have faith in God.’ Why is it necessary? Is .He not worthy of it? Yes. Has He ever failed? Does He expect us to trust Him? Why, of course He does. Our trouble is just this, that we forget to trust Him or become so influenced by constant contact with other people that we lose sight of the greater in the lesser. Did not God make us? Does He not understand us? Is He not interested in our welfare, our actions—yes, our very thoughts—in such a way that no other can be? Can He not do more for us, for me, than anyone else can possibly do? But faith misplaced leads to disaster, disappointment and trouble for others, to* 1 But the person who is strong in faith inspires, cheers and encourages us. Faith and works go hand in hand. Pray much, but do something to show that your faith is real and vital. Always looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith. Prayer Lord, it is to Thee that wc come, trusting and praising. Thou hast given so much to us, help us to give our loyalty and devotion to Thee. Bless our leaders and our loved ones everywhere. Help all in trouble and perplexity of any kind. For Jesus’ sake.
