Romuera, February 23rd. Mrs. Land pic si tied over a \ery food attendance of members. One new member initiated by the President at this meeting. Mrs. Kasjier gave a report on the World Convention at Hasting*, England, which she attended. She also .sjxike of other Conventions. For 13 years Mrs. Kas(ier was World’s .Supt. for Methods, through which she did a great deal of work. Onchunga. At the February meeting, Frances Willard Day was observed. Mrs. Brown presided at the February meeting* Members stood in silence, in memory of the late Mrs. Morwood, who had been Treasurer for many years. Miss Kushton took devotions, basing her remarks on Christ as the Chief Corner Stone. Sister Jane Bond, a maternity nurse, on lurkiugh from the Solomon Islands, gave a most interesting and comprehensive talk on her work among the native women. Several articles read relating to Frances W illard, the founder of our work. Wellington District Executive was held at Karon with Mrs. J. H. Grigg presiding. Feeling reference made to the passing of Mrs. Sawdeii, a valued member and for some years Dist. Treasurer. Appreciation of her life and work placed on record. Copies of “The White Ribbon” being placed m Ladies’ Waiting Room, Wellington Station, and in one city store. Johnsotivillc Union m charge of distribution. Election of President post|*>ned, as no nominations were forthcoming. Miss V. Jackson, Vice-President. Appreciation ot Mrs. Sired’s tine work as Secretary was recorded. Replies received from Ministers re supply of students’ text books; re the ini|*ortation of spirits; and from Prime Minister re transfer of licences. Little satisfaction. Mrs. F. tirigg re|>orted on H.P.A. area and study groups. Over £2O subscribed as District’s contribution to Korean Fund. Convention remits considered. Christchurch. At the February meeting Mrs. Hunt (President) presided ovei a gratifying attendance. A vote of sympathy with Miss Musgrove in her recent bereavement was passed. Miss Thomas read an interesting rejort ol the North Canterbury Executive. A rejxirt on the Women’s World Day of Prayer was given by the Secretary. Mrs. Hunt was authorised as to amounts to be contributed to funds at Convention in Hkr>heim. A very happy meeting closed with Benediction. Spreydon. Mrs. L. Woodcock in the chair and conducted devotions. Mrs. Sun rejiorted on the happy Christinas party enjoyed by the Mental Hospital Group. Mrs. Woodcock submitted remits to be dealt with at Convention. Boys: Ist prize, David Lockwood; 2nd, Brian Taylor. New Brighton. The Annual Picnic wa* held in ground' of Mr. and Mrs. Hall, Bexley. An enjoyable dly was sjient. Regret at illness of Mrs. Hall expressed. Sincere sympathy was also expressed with Mr. Drewett in the death of Mrs. Drewett. Mrs. Edmond thanked Mr. and Mrs. Hall, and Mrs. Ellis. Linwood, February 24th. 2Sth Birthday celebrated, when the President, Mrs. Teague, presided over a good attendance of representatives from other Unions and Church organisations in the District. Mrs. Francis, a loundation member, took devotions on the theme, “Who is my neighbour.'” Musical items gave much enjoyment. Sprays given to artists and the six foundation members as well as the officers. A gift was given to Mrs. Major Simpson prior to her departure to England on holiday. T* Kopuru, February. Mrs. Bickers presided. An inspiring circle of prayer by members. Mrs. A. J. Wordsworth reported on the Executive meeting at Whangarei. Letter on Peace from Peace Superintendent, Mrs. Roberts, was read. A new member, Mrs. P. E. Cole, was initiated and welcomed. 130 “Beacons" to be distributed to Easter campers at Te Kopuru after the Social Questions Session. Supplements to be sent to Red Hill and Tatararariki Sunday Schools regularly. Wellsford, March 31st. Members stood in silence in memory ol Queen Mary. Mrs. Singleton welcomed good attendance. Devotions led by Mrs. I). Browne. Roll call— Scripture verse concerning strong drink very iniormative. Birthday posy to Mrs. Skelton. Parcels of clothing received tor Maori and Corso w-ork. Preparations for “Hangi” in Wellsford, combining Warkwjrth Union and Maori Girls’ Hostel from Auckland on 18th April. Mrs. Singleton, N.C.W. representative to Northland Council. Auckland District Executive, March 30th. Mrs. A. I'. Richards presided and devotions taken by Mrs. B. Christopher. Mrs. Mountjoy reported on the work of the M aori Girls’ Hostel, which was full. Mrs. Richards and Miss Appleby apjiointed N.C.W. delegates for the coming year. Further arrangements m?de for the Mother’s Day meeting early in May. Mrs. Richards gave a comprehensive rejxirt of the Blenheim Convention. The Roll Call of Auckland Unions showed only three not represented at the Flxecutive. Takapuna, March. Mrs. Morgan-Richards presided in the absence of Mrs. Petchell on a holiday visit to Australia. A very comprehensive report of the Convention was given by Mrs. Kelsey, leaving with us much food for thought. Devotions were led by Mrs. Mawson and Mrs. '1 remain. Mrs. Prussing mentioned the gift to Mrs. Toomer and members agreed we should do share. Afternoon tea served. Benediction. Henderson, March 18. Mrs. E. V. Phillips presided and led devotions. Prayer Circle of Bible promises. One new member welcomed, three others enrolled, two of whom are on a visit to Canada and hope to attend the World Convention. Remuera, March 23rd. Mrs. Laird presided and rifter the opening hymn members engaged in prayer. The devotion-, were taken by Mrs. Ibbetson. Miss Gane read the Teml*erance Fact. Mrs. Laird read a very interesting portion otn a book written by a doctor and entitled “Christ in the Modern Hospital”. New Plymouth, March 25th. A good attendance presided over by the President, Mrs. Exley. Devotion* taken by Miss Petersen. Letter from Mrs. B run ton telling of progress of Convention. Feeling reference made to the passing of Mrs. Noble Hill, a faithful worker. Members stood ui silence and the so’o, “Peace, Perfect Peace”, was sung by Mrs. Simons. Sympathy with two members who have suffered bereavement. As several members were absent through sickness, Mrs. Clelland gave part of her Convention report only, leaving the remainder for next neeting. Our President was wished “Bon voyage” as she was going on a trip to Australia. Nelson Youth Rally. First in the new Hall wher Ms. Rankin welcomed a good attendance of young people. Two films were shown—the one “Skid Row showing work of the S. Army in U.S.A.. and the other on the l&ission to lepers. Mr. J. K. Reid. South Island Secretary, gave a short talk on" the Mission. Mr. A. Hay led community singing and tea was served by Mrs. Doel and helpe r s. Christchurch Central, March. Mrs. Hunt presided and welcomed Miss Kirk, formerly Dominion President, Miss T. Atkinson, of Wellington, and Mrs. Clark, of Dunedin. Miss Lovell-Smith led devotions and members stood in silence in memory of Queen Mary. A most comprehensive report on the recent Convention was presented by Mrs. Hunt. Greetings sent to Dunedin Union through Mrs. Claik and a short address was given by Miss Kirk, J.P. Papanui, March 25th. Attendance good. Mrs. Neville in the chair. Devotions led by Mrs. Malcolm. Six patients visited at Mental Hospital tv Mesdames Anderson and Karst. Sale Table for Union funds. A talk on interesting and quaint churches in Australia given by the President. Tribute paid to Mrs. Atkins, District Executive Secretary, for her intense and devoted work. Some discussion on remits from district for Convention. Alao the scheme for Boys’ Life Brigade lectures submitted—women lecturers preferred by the boys.

Timaru, March 31st. Mrs. Smith presided and devotions by Mrs. Sole on the theme, “Our Responsibilities”. Roll call-verses with word “Home”; very helpful messages received. Reported that model of the Sailors' Rest had been completed and sent to World Convention. Aunual Shop Day in aid of Rest funds. Miss Arras gave an interesting ie]*ort of Convention and expressed appreciation of being a delegate and having received much inspiration and enjoyment from every session. Special mention made of devotional periods and the entertainment of delegates. Report to be continued at next meeting.

Waimate. Mrs. Duckett presided and took devotions. Mr. Geo. Dash, M.8.E., was welcomed as the guest s|*aker and spoke on community uplift and dangers facing the youth of the community. He took up the matter cf smoking and drug cigarettes. The sneaker gave illustrations trom Court experiences, having been a J.P. for over ,t 0 years, on the shrewd methods of liquor advertising. Mr. Dash emphasised the necessity for more Band of Hop ■ workers and W.C.T.U. members. Miss S. Hay man mov.-d a hearty vote of thanks.
