MR. GEO. DASH, M.B.E.

We extend congratulations to Mr. G. Dash, whose name appeared in the New Year Honours recently, and who has given a life-time of service to the Temperance Cause in New Zealand. As was stated in the Timaru Herald, Mr. Dash lias a record of service iti public, church and on sports bodies that must rank as outstanding in this country. Mr. Dash joined the Band of Hope at 7 years of age and though now in his eightieth year, is its president, while for thirty-six years he was Secretary of the Temperance Party. As Mayor of Waimate for eighteen years, Mr. Dash never used alcoholic liquor at any function, not even in entertaining the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe.
