IN LOVING MEMORY OF MRS. BESSIE LEE-COWIE

Di«d April 17th, 19S0 Brave Heart! Near four score years and 4en, Long life of service given. The Lord she loved, He called her then, To her reward in Heaven. Her mission, in full many a land, Where’er her lot was cast, She led a Christian Temperance Band, Such faithful work must last. Age did not dim her energies, For all, she preached the Word. With winning ways, and loving voice, She won souls for her Lord. She knew’ the evil Drink has wrought, A devil’s weapon, too, And so, with God's own help, she fought To build sad lives anew. Her service, still she carried on. When nearly all retire. Example brave, now she is gone, Lest low, should die our fire. Our fire of progress in our cause, Enthusiasm too. Be ours, in this, to make no pause, And still our work pursue. ETHEL L. PIPER. Northcote. MRS. LEE-COWIE’S INVITATION TO NEW ZEALAND It is of interest to note that Mrs. Lee-Cowie, then Mrs. Harrison-Lee, first came to New Zealand at the in-, vitation of the Auckland Union. The husband of one of the then Officers, while on a visit to Australia, heard Mrs. Lee-Cowie speak and knew of her great Temperance work. He strongly advised the Auckland Union to invite her to come to Auckland, which they did and a most successful Mission was held.
