NELSON W.C.T.U. YOUTH GATHERING
MARCH 26th The first gathering for the year was held in the W.C.T.U. hall. A member of “Alcoholic; Anonymous” gave a talk on the work of this organisation which originated in U.S.A. but now has branches in many other countries, including several in Xew Zealand The speaker showed how ?.n alcoholic began as a moderate drinker, and how there was no means of telling which of the moderates would become alcoholics, nor why ore should react differentb from others. He also told something of the methods used, and of results achieved. Mrs. C. Knapp thanked the speaker. Mr. R. Marshall showed a film. “It’s the brain that counts," and Messrs, Gardiner and Hay led community singing. Tea was served by Presbyterian members of the W.C.T.U.
