FRANCHISE DAY September 19th WOMEN LEGISLATORS

Women are playing an important role in India today. There are at Present 53 women members of Central and Provincial legislatures, the youngest being Mrs. Sudha Kumari Rai, 25, in the Central Provinces Assembly. posts; two are sheriffs and one is a magistrate in Delhi. There are three top positions held by women, namely Mrs. Vijayalakshini Panditas, Ambassador to Moscow; Mrs. Sarajini Naidu, Governor of the United Provinces; and Rajkintiari Amrit Kaur, Health Minister of the Government of India. There are at present 5,000 women doctors, 7,000 women nurses and many thousand women teachers.
