SPECIAL PUBLIC MEETING, WINTON UNION
On December 2nd, a special meeting was held at Winton Sunday School Ilall, when Mr. George Dash, of Wai* mate, was the speaker, his subject being the "General Conditions in Liquor Trading.” Twenty-five visitors had travelled by bus from Invercargill to be present. Mrs. Thomson, Union President, took the chair, and Miss Jamieson, District President, took the Devotional reading, Mrs. Holmes of lnvcrcargili leading in prayer. Mrs. Thomson then warmly welcomed all present and asked them to stand in answer to their names to be introduced to each other.
Mr. Dash gave his address in a very able manner, giving a very full account of the terrible happenings caused by the influence of liquor. Mrs. Thomson thanked the speaker, assuring him that the Winton Union would do all possible to carry on the good work of the W.C.T.U. Mrs. Wilson endorsed these remarks A recitation was then given by Mrs Middlemiss. of Invercargill. The meeting closed with the reading of the Pledge. Hymn and Benediction pronounced by Miss Jamiesor, tea being served later.
