TEACH THE CHILD.
Do you pray “Thy Kingdom come, Thy w’ill be done ... on Flarth"? If you do w’hat are you doing to help bring this wonderful condition of things to pass? Are you doing all you know to stamp cut the black evil of the liquor traffic, with its ever lengthening record of crime, disease and death. Have you noticed that we are in even more imminent danger from the scourge of venereal diseases than we are of an invasion by enemy forces. According to those who have had the ability and opportunity to study the incidence of V.D. Alcoholic Liquor is the main factor in the contraction and spread of this disease. At the New South Wales Royal Commission on V.D. a doctor who had been in charge of a clinic during the last war said: “Every’ man that came to me 1 asked where he had contracted the disease and without exception the reply was “Oh, I’d had a drop of drink or the woman would not have got me.” We all want good health for those we love, so we must teach the girls and boys entrusted to our care that first they must learn to control their desires, even in small matters; secondly that liquor will break down that self-control moie quickly than any other factor. You teach your little ones the value of their eyes, ears, etc., as the time comes opportunely teach them the value of the other parts of their Innlies; don’t make a mystery of it, but of the more delicate parts tell them to ask only you or their father anything further they want to know; it is so interesting and so precious that one does not talk alxnit it except to those we know and love. Build up their standard of right with prayerful intelligence and they will in very deed “Rise up and call you blessed." -C. E. KIRK, Supt.
