A nialapuram, Hast (Jodavary District, India. 30th May, 1936. My dear Mrs l’eryinan and White Ribboners, — This is to tell you about the happy times we had during the last few months. My husband is regularly going out to the villages to do the work among the victims of opium and alcohol. He is visiting alaint half a dozen villages, and we have much pleasure to let you all know that most of the people for whom we are constantly praying gave an (with that they would not touch alcohol in their life time. They are coming very near to our Lord Jesus Christ. “Praise the lx>rd!” There is one vdlage called Kodurupudu, about seven miles away from here, where a group of people gather every Sunday regularly to offer prayers to our Ixird Almighty. We have opened a new Sunday School there in the beginning of the year, and you can see the group of our Sunday School in the enclosed snap. The man who is standing at the extreme left holding a pictureroll is really a child of God, and he is really saved from the pit of sin. He is very eager to take the Baptism. The Sunday School hoys like very much the small picture cards, but sorry’ we h”-en't got them with us to give them every week. They are very eager, and looking forward for the day of annual prize distribution. If our Lord shows us any help, we are thinking of giving them prizes in the early part of December. Therefore, we request all the readers of the “White Ribbon” to cooperate in the work and lend your helping hand in the work. We have undertaken another work to help the poor Christian widows of the villages. Most of the widows know knitting d’oyleys. centres, ovals, yokes, collars, duchess sets, laces by the yard, etc., in all sizes; but to their bad luck, there is no sale for their work in India, as the white population, who use this on large scale, is very scarce. We collect all the crochet work of theirs and send it away to the children of God who like to help the poor widows by disposing of it in the churches and to their friends. We are very glad to say that our Ixml is showing much help in this way to assist the poor women of this

place. We thank the Editor and Miss M. Curie very much for their generous mind to help in this work. More work can be done if more can help in tlu* enterprise. The summer is very hot this year. At the i»eginning of this month my husband had been for a camp with some native brethren to a place called Molletimoga, which is a seaside place, where there is a big light-house. All the people wbo belong to that place are fishermen, and they are more or h‘ B!s equal to the wild animals. They work all night on the sea by fishing, and come out in the morning and sleep all day. At about three in the afternoon they go to the toddy shop, and return home fully drunk. Boor fellows! spend all their earnings in drinking. My husband says that when he visited last year a small village he saw all the people are idol worshippers and drunkards. He preached to them and gave some leaflets. Rut to his surprise, when he visited this year, he saw all people are worshipping on'y one God, and gave up drinking. What a wonderful God we have! He does very wonderful things. We shall l»e pleased to send you pictures of our work in India if you are at ail Interested. We are praying earnestly to our Ixird Almightly for a magic lantern. Indians hear more interestingly if the work is done with a magic lantern. So we request you all please to co-operate with us in the prayer, and lend your hand in this enterprise also so much as God gives you. We shall tell you more aliout these people in our next letter. Yours, in His service, MRS. G. RORKENA.
