The question is often ttsked, “For whom shall we pray?’’ fcst Janies says, "Piay one for another.’ There are man) weary, self-sacrificing men and women in the world who often feel lonely and discouraged. Ret us after a little prayer for them and for those working for the welfare of humanity! There are many people who have no', yet bean’ the Gospel of Jesus Christ, though the world is belted with centres of evangelisation. Multitudes „f (-i/jpel Messengers a' e preaching the Word of God. I>et us thank God for this, and re mein tier them in our noontide prayer. We must all join heart and hand in the practical work of evangelising the world. What the world needs to-day are men and women who can bring people to Christ, and to a better social life and a happier tomorrow. When we think of the scattered and torn sections of the race, we feel that we all want to be bound together into happy kinship. This is the aim of the W.C.T.U., and can only lx realised through the united prayer. January loth is to in* observed as Temperance Day. We have a great work to do: many enemies to conquer, many evils to prevent, and many difficulties to be mastered before we can solve this world-wide drink problem. Let us therefore, in our local Unions, set aside a portion of this day and pray for the Temperance cause all over the w orld. Dear co-worker! let us this coming year improve the wonderful opportunity of our day to make investments for Eternity. In the world to come no prayers are heard, and as our own h arts nestle in (Christ's great love for those for whom we pray, something of its warmth and glow cannot fail to pass iii'j the depth of our own l>eing. Let us hope that the coming year will l>e most successful, and that the Divine Benediction may rest upon the work of the W.C.T.U. all over the world. "For we must share, if we would keep That blessing from above. Ceasing to give, we cease to have. Such Is thy law of Ix>ve.” Sincerely yours. AN N A BRA 'ITETROM. Supt of the W.W.C.T.U.
