“THE SIGIL.”

A WAY OUT I suppose there are few of our members who are not concerned, it' not for themselves, at least for others less fortunate *.vhn are suffering through th< present economic option—that is, th< scarcity of money—for ib‘* strange thing is that the only scarcity is of money. We live in a land of plenty olenty of food, plenty of clothing, and yet thousands are hungry and illclothed. Ur iducers and manufacturers are anxious to sell, purchasers anxious to buy, but because the medium of exchange is lacking the wheels stand still, and the result is hunger, suffering and demoralisation. There is a way out. Rod never put one of his creatures where they could not find their way if they sincerel.N desire to do so. “Not b> might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, saith the Lord.” The spirit that is needed is the spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ. Last August a new movement was started, and is slowly spreading throughou! the Dominion the circulation of a simple prayer, which originated in connection with a book by John Oxenham, “The Alan Who Would Save the World, “Our Father in Heaven, we pra> The** to send into our hearts, and into the hearts of all men everywhere, the spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ." Thu prayer is printed on a strong, neat card, i is given to everyone willing to accept it on condition thnt it is used at least once each day. Since August. 3000 have been circulated in the Dominion. Those circulating them say they find people eager and glad to take them. The writer has had great joy in this work. Women of all classes seem truly glad to have something that they can do. They realise that a prayer like this must In* a real force in the world, and sincerely carried out. must in time change the spirit of the people of all nations. We who believe our Bible sincerel.N believe that the time shall come when “They shall l>eat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sNvord against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.” We who are old enough to have lived through the Rreat War and remember at Nvhat great cost it was carried on. have seen the deadly results eating into the nation -revenge, hatred, bitterness, suspicion. We know that it settled nothing, brought nothing but ill-feeling. Shall we not then do our part to conquer this through the spirit of our Lord Jesus Chust. the spirit of love and goodwill? The Spirit which is stronger than al. the evil force: 1 now working in the world, and which must he supreme in the end. To us is given

the privilege of taking part in this great movement, which has been inspired by the Spirit of our Lord. Will every man and woman of goodwill reading this write at once for one or more of the prayer cards or sigils, and join this great movement for the sake of those who so sadly need our help? Address to— MRS FIELD, The Hocks, Nelson. Sigils: 2/- per 100, 1/- 50, 6d 25. Smaller quantities given away. A few at present on hand. Fresh supply about middle of June.
