NEWS FROM NIUE ISLAND.

Niue Island. 6th August, 1931. Dear Mrs Peryman,— It is so nice to hear from you, dear. We huve a lot of people down with pneumonia, and quite a number died, the poor things. The cold weather is too cold for them and they have no warm clothes to w’eur. One of my dearest aunties died with it; her husband and I have tried our best to save her, but the pneumonia got the best of her, poor thing; it is too sad, for she was such a faithful member, and worked very hard. Our missionary went away for a holiday (month) in Samoa, and they can’t come l>ack because of the sickness there, and doctors won t allow anybody to come l>ack here. I am very sorry for them, for I know’ they are very anxious to come l>ack to their work. We are very busy, too, because our annual meeting is to be held this month. I did write a report to the World Convention in Toronto. Thank you very much for the badges. We have quite a number of new members waiting for them. Two came for them yesterday. I am so grateful to you for sending them so promptly. 1 went out to a villag-o 14 miles return, to appoint a new committee, and the> were so pleased to see me. A few’ members of our branch died. I am enclosing £2 9s 3d money order for our capitation fees. Mr Head and I are going to visit another village next Sunday; there are 96 meml)ers there; this is 22 miles return. Please remember me kindly to all we met, and Miss Kirk. Mr Head joins me in kindest regards to Mr Peryman anti yourself. With much love from the Branch here, and myself.
