AN APPRECIATION BY A FELLOW WORKER.
The Kaiupoi Branch has recently lost ' one of its most active and earnest workers. Mrs Stewart, who for many years has been in the forefront of the battle waged against the Liquor Truffle Service was the keynote of her life, nn<] was the law of happiness to our late friend and comrade. It war, chiefly through her perseverance that our Rest Room and Temperance Hall was built. For a time Mrs Stewart was Recording Secretary for the Christchurch Branch, and did yeoman service during the first years of the Great War in collecting clothing, packing, and sending it off for the Belgian refugees, and also in organising efforts to raise money for the Union’s war funds. Her energy and enthusiasm were great, and we deeply regret that the earthly activities of our late comrade are ended. .vt the general meeting of tin* (*hristchurch Union Miss Henderson spoke of the great loss sustained in the passing of Mrs Stewart, and proposed a vote of sincere sympathy with the boreaved husband.
