BEFORE NATIONAL PROHIBITION.
At the annual meeting of the Ameri can Medical Association, held in New York City, during the first week of June. 1917, the following resolutions or alcohol were passed: “Whereas, we believe that the use of alcohol as a beverage is detrimental to the human economy; anil “Where** its use In theraj>euties as a tonic, or a stimulant, or as a food has no scientific basis; therefore be it “Resolved, that th»* American Medical Association opposes the use of alcohol a* a beverage; and be it further “Resolved, that the us** of alcohol as a therapeutic agent should be discouraged.”
