WANGANUI EAST. June 7. Fortnightly meeting held in the Methodist Church. There was a good attendance, including eight new members. All joined heartily in repeating the company rule, salute, and mottoes, after which the election of officers took place. The following w» **e elected amidst much enthusiasm: Pies., Pearl McDonald: Vice-Pres., Hilda Laws; Sec., Chrissie Munro; Treas., Willie Thompson; Monitor, Vera Thompson; Pianist pro tern., Gwen Wilson. “We'll Never, Never Touch the Wine” was quickly lea ned by the Legion. All joined heartily in the singing exercises. WI N( *H MORE GREEN STREET BAND OF HOFE Although the night was intensely cold, we arc glad to report that the Greenstreet Schoolroom was packed on the occasion of the Band of Hope meeting. Mr Horrill, of Ashburton, gave a thrilling Temperance address. The evening passed all too quickly with Temperance songs, recitations and dialogues Enthusiastic audience; good collection. ard dainty supper.
