AUCKLAND DISTRICT CONVENTION.
Sept. 22. Convention held. Mrs Cook presided. There* was a large* attendance. Delegates were present from Onehunga. Ponsonhy. Otahuhu. Birkenhead. Taka puna. Henderson. Kdeli. Avondale, Papntne*toe*. Mrs J. Robb conducted the d«*votional meeting, which opc*nc*d at in o'clock 4n tli<* H end qua tiers. A very helpful address was giv«*n by Mrs Robb on the mi nudes of tin* lextves and Ashes and Christ walking on the s<*a. The President welcomed the* visiting delegates, and also Mis A. R. Atkinson, of Wellington. The reports given by el. legates were of an nteresting nature, and showed good work done during the year. Votes of sympathy were passed to members who had recently suffered l**re*avef»Jent. Mrs Atkinson led the* noontide hour prayer. The* afternoon session was held in the Y.M.PA. Lecture Hull. Devotions were* conducted hv Mrs Ansticc. An excellent paper, written by Mrs Prabb, Dominion Acting President, on “The Ideals and Aims of W.P.T.1T.,” was read by Miss Paul. The paper was milch appreciated, and a vote of thanks was passed to Mrs Prubb. Mrs Atkinson gave a most interesting address, touching on various phases of our work, pointing out the advance made in Scientific Temperance Instruction since* the W.P.T.C. advocated it 30 years ago. She spoke in eulogistic terms of the splendid efforts the* Minister of Kducation was making in this direction. It was decided to send a letter of thanks and appreciation to Hon. P. J. Parr. Solos were rendered by Mrs Ansticc* and Miss Reinmir. A rollee-tion was taken for work among the sailors. Afternoon tea was dispensed.
