WOMEN IN GOVERNMENT APPOINTMENTS.

In France, Marguerite Calve has been attached to the Cabinet of the Minister of Public Instruction, and the Minister of Blockade has a woman private secretary. Mr Lloyd George also has a woman private secretary. In Algiers women may be Clerks to the Magistrate. In Great Britain four women were ;y>pointed insurance Commissioners, with inc same salaries as their male colleagues. Under the Local Gov eminent Board there is .i superintendent lady inspeetor and six inspectors of hoarding out, i.c , children who, under Poor f *w, are placed in families. Ireland has two wom p n inspectors of boarding-out. The Public Trustee lias a woman visitor for children.
