THE ORGANISING DEPARTMENT
I)car Sisters, With my arrival in Palmerston North my work for the I’nion concludes in the meantime, as I have been engaged by the local N.Z. League to spend some time in working in that town. While it is with a considerable amount of regret that I relinquish the position of W.C.T.I. Organiser, >ll ll I have always felt that as the poll nears it must take preeedenee of all other temperance work. In this view, I am glad to 'ay, the acting New Zealand President and Dominion Corresponding Secretary in who-e authority the* department i> placed concur, while Mrs Cole, when asking me to take’ the* position, anticipated this turn of events. After all, this is W.C.T.I. work, and if the* work done in my little area houlci help to bring nearer the glad clay when we shout our victory for National Prohibition, no one will rejoice* more than my White Ribbon sisters. May I ask you, in the meantime, to keep up your payments to the Organising Fund, even it, for the present, no Organiser should be working. A little calculation will show you that even if every Cnion sent along it- annual contribution at the rate of is per member (which, 1 am sorry to say, all do not), the fund would not be* -utbc ient to pay expenses. So this j' the time to get a little ahead. Before c losing, I should like to call your attention to tin very tine literature* on sale by Mrs Neal. For sc! Mrs Neal will -end a sample packet of about a dozen leaflets eminently suitable* for reading at motl meetings. A set of ch.r i»d descriptive pamphlet are very good, a< well as other pamphlets suitable for addresses to children. For particulars. sec* Mrs Neal’s letter in September issue of this paper. Will correspondents kindly cut out liy address (as below), to save niisakes and delay? Always yours for u* work, M. S. POWELL. 15a Ada Street, Palmerston N.
