Treasurers Report, 1910-1911.
Lrttfrjiom A /. iVmidfnt rant at Maori Com tut ton My Dear Maori Sisters, It was with great sorrow that I decided it was better for mo not to tako the long journey to Hastings, to attend your O nvention. Some time ago I was very near the gates of death, and I am not yet very strong. The l’akoha Convention has been a great strain for me, and for my own sake, and the sake of my dear ones, I had to deny myself tho joy of being with you When I promised last year to attend your gathering, 1 little thought I should have to go through much weakness and suffering, before the timo arranged for the Convention came round. But if spared, and health and strength be granted to me, I hope to see you face to face next year, if you decide to meet in Convention in 1912. I pray that Ciod’s Mossing may rest upon you abundantly, and that in your deliberations you may have Ilis guidance and wisdom from above. I shall think of you much during the next few days, and shall he with you in spirit, regretting much that I cannot be with you.—Yours sincerely, in the tie that binds, Fanny Cole, President N.Z.W.C.T.U.
Christchurch, May -Ith, 1911. Madam, In the necessarily briof condensation of the New Zealand Treasurer’s report in your last issue, an error has crept in which I wish to correct, as it may create a false impression. 1 did not say that “ all balance-shoots should he signed by an accredited auditor,” the term “ accredited ” being understood to mean a registered accountant, or similar expert. What I di<l say was that so 1 o of the balance - sheets bore no evidence of having been audited at all, and that this should have been done. I believe any reasonably competent business man or woman, who is willing to take sufficient pains to ensure accuracy, should he able to audit our Unions’ accounts quit© efficiently. Owing to a typist’s mistake in the copy, it is stated that the sum of £H() had been paid off the Souvenir booklet account during the year. This should have £2s The balance still owing, £2B 1 Is Kd, is correctly stated. Yours sincerely, N. Bexdely, N X. Treasurer.
