Women on School Committees.
“The Minister for Education made a good point when he told the deputation that they should make more use of the powers they already possessed with regard to the election of school committees. The election of a school committee is generally speaking a dull affair. No one is very anxious to he elected, and no one cares much about electing, and women play a comparatively small part in the whole business, though they possess full rights. Mr Fowlds pointed out to the deputation that, if they wanted certain reforms carried out in schools, certain subjects made more prominent, the best they could do was to elect their own committees, either with women members or with men whom they selected. ‘The Unions are quite willing to act on the suggestion.’ ”
