The White Ribbon. For God and Home and Humanity. MONDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 1909. FRANCES WILLARD MEMORIAL DAY, FEBRUARY 17.

\Yk are reminded that for four years the beautiful statue of America’s uncrowned Queen has stood in the Capitol, Washington. We are told the dignity, the simplicity, the gentleness, the force, and the purity of Frances W illard, are all to be seen in the marble wrought by the cunning hand of one who loved her. Amongst the lovely lines written by Katherine Lent Stevenson are these : How great she stands ! A mountain peak her soul: an ocean wide ; A river, sweeping on with full, free tide; A sacred shrine whve holiest things abide ; How great she stands ! How loved she stands ! CnnumWred souls their costliest incense bring ; i Fur all the world her name doth heart-liells ring ; Love notes to her ec u little children sing ; How loved she stands ! A Queen she stands ! In her our woman heart hath found its throne ; Through her <>ur kinship with all good is shown ; Her white life makes our royal birthright known Our Queen she stands ! A seer she stands ! To her ch ar eyes Truth's radiant sweep unfolds ; She reads what, down the years, the future holds, She sees things heavenly math their earthly mould ; A seer she stands ! Stand, radiant soul! Here, in the centre of our nation’s heart; Forever of its l*est life thou rt a part ; Here thou shall draw thy land to what thou trt. Stand, radiant soul ! I s it not well for us to keep this memorial day ? that our girls may be encouraged to study and know this noble life, and consecrate themselves and their powers

to the work of God and Home and Humanity. Are not helpless children and miserable men and women crying out for aid to rescue them from pits of destruction. Loving girls are wanted. Clever girls are needed, to combat the wiles of the evil one. Christian girls are called to help tnose of their sisters who are tempted to go astray. W ill not all our loveable young women come forward and take bold of the work with both hands and seek to follow Frances \\ illard and woik for the Master she served !
