Our Illustration.

As “Our Illustration ’ this month we give the portrait of Miss Dorothea Beale, LL.D., who for over forty-six years has occupied the position of Principal of the Ladies’ College, Cheltenham (Eng.), and who, it may be mentioned, is an Hon. Freeman of the Borough of Cheltenham. When Miss Beale was appointed to the College in 1858 there were 69 pupils; now they number 1,000. Miss Beale’s literary w T ork includes a “Text-book of History,” “ Literary Studies,” and many smaller books on educational subjects. An account of the interesting ceremony connected with the presentation of Miss Beale’s portrait as a jubilee gift to the College appears elsewhere in our columns.
