Within tiie next two months the people ot this colony will have the course of its destiny in their hands. By the election of those who frame our laws, and by our voting at the Local Option Poll, we have an opportunity to work for or against the forces which make for righteousness. It is a solemn thought, it is a grand, an inspiring one. For three yeais we may argue, we may educate, we may plead for our ideal of good. But on the polling day there comes the opportunity of striking out clearly and unmistakably for what we think to be truest ami best. It is true that so far as candidates are concerned we are often perplexed. But in the Licensing Poll the issue is straight and sharp. On the one hand are health and happiness, peace and prosperity, and on the other nand are drunkenness, disease, crime, and want. Who can hesitate ? Not, we are sure, the readers of this paper. Yet there is danger that many votes are lost for want of a little timely effort. The parable of the foolish virgins is still true. Through either their own laxity, or the fault of the Registrar of electors, men and women find their names absent from the Electoral Roll when they go to vote. The rolls are being printed now, and it will be an easy matter to go yourself, or get a friend to go to the Registrar’s

office and see if your name is enrolled. If it is not, get an enrolment form and till it up at once so that it may go on the Supplementary Roll
