Have You a Boy to Spare?

'fhe public house must have boys, or it must be shut up. Can’t you find a boy ? It is a great factory for turning out drunkards, and unless it can have thousands from each generation for raw material it must be closed. It has been publicly stated by a lecturer paid by the Brewers to oppose Prohibition that 5 per cent, of the population of this colony are drunkards. It is safe, therefore, to calculate that if the public-house is to be kept going there will l>e WANTED 30,000 BOYS to fill the places of the drunkards as they drop into their graves. Will you help ? Which of your boys shall it be ? Those who vote for licensing publichouses should be willing to supply the customers for the public house. If the bars are not closed, 30,000 boys who are now innocent and pure will be ruined. Think of it! These statements are as true as they are startling ! If it were believed that even a tenth part of 30,000 of our New Zealand boys would die of hydrophobia, every dog in New Zealand would be destroyed, and a law of absolute Prohibition would be passed on dog-kennels and their occupants.
