The G.F.S. held a very pleasant social at the end of last month, whereby a little help towards the support of the Sunday School's New Guinea boy was given. The rose and early summer flower show was a delight to all whopatronised it. It was generally voted to be a very creditable display, thanks to the maay donors of beautiful roses, etc., Mr C. H. 3Mwards's collection being exceptionally good. The children's efforts; were m advance of anything yet shown, which it is very pleasing to announce. The volunteers who responded to the call of the Vicar to help with the tent and get the tables fixed did good work, and the Vicar's and Vestry's best thanks are heartily tended to all who contributed m anyway to the success of the show. The only matter of regret is that it was not so well supported by the public attendance as it should have been. Some £8 or £9 only will be the. financial result after paying all expenses. Our . best thanks are due to Mr T. H. Collins and his band for their music on both evenings, to our own Guild workers, who threw them-

selves into the work with their usual energy and goodwill, and to Messrs J. N. Anderson, Widerstroni, and ltitchie for their valued assistance. A good many of our Sunday School scholars are entering for the Diocesan examination which, thanks to the chairman of the School Committee, and Mr Dodds, the headmaster, will be held m the State school. The children have received good encouragement to enter, special prizes being offered by Mr Lawlor, the superintendent, and the Vicar, besides those offered by the Diocese and the Sunday School to all successful scholars. It is with very deep regret to the Vicar, teachers, and scholars that Mr T. M. Lawlor, the superintendent, is about to reside m Hastings, having been promoted m his official capacity to the Magistrate's Court there. Daring his superindency Mr Lawlor has won the affection of the scholars and the respect of all connected with the school and parish. He takes with him the best wishes of us all for himself, Mrs Lawlor and his family. The result of the Jubilee Thank Offering collections will be announced next month— several at the time of writing not yet having sent m their cards. Most of those sent m show that an effort has been made and we trust the result all through tiio Diocese will be gratifying. The Christmas Day offerings will all be devoted to the Mission of Help Fund. We hope that all our parishioners will use daily the Prayer for the Mission. The Confirmation will be held on Sunday, December Bth. Mrs Fanny Ellery, who passed away at the end of last month, will be remembered by all who knew her as a kind friend and neighbor, a devoted wife and mother, and most of all as a good Christian woman. To her family we sincerely offer our sympathy m their bereavement, as wo also do to Mrs Harman m the loss of her husband, an upright and worthy man, held m deep respect by his fellow men. Baptisms.— Louis Davis, Phyllis Emily Margaret Harvey, Allan tleoryre Baird, Norman Benj^tson Baird, Emily Alice Mcakin. and five adults. Burials.— Fanny Ellery, 74 years : Henry Hairaan, 61 years.
