The Holy Communion

The Holy Communion service is primarily an offering to God of Our Lord's Life, Death and Resurrection on our behalf, and of our worship. It is good to have a rule about the regular receiving of Communion after due preparation, but some people seem to have got the wrong idea that because they are not Confirmed or because they do not receive Communion every Sunday there is no need for them to be present. The rule of -the Church is "The Lord's own service for the Lord's own people." Evensong is a supplement, too, but hot a substitute for attendance at the Holy Eucharist at which we are privileged to join with Angels m. worshipping Our Risen Saviour, truely present as m no other way, under the hidden jorm of the Blessed Sacrament. — Rev. W. D. Harding, M.A., Vicar of Kumara, m the "West Coast Churchman."
