Tribute to Late Lieutenant Forbes McHardy.

By the death of Lieutenant Forbes McHardy, who was recently killed m action m Italy, Abbotsford Home, Waipawa, has lost one who has done much for the institution. As a generous supporter he took a most kindly interest m the welfare of the children of/ the home. The matron, Miss L: E. Johnston, forwards the following letter of appreciation of one who will long be remembered as a friend of the home. "I feel I cannot let the death oversea^ of Mr. Forbes McHardy go by without writing this letter and telling you and your readers something of this Christian gentleman as we of this home found him over a long number of years. "As you know, the children of Abbotsford Home, Waipawa, have been able to enjoy a wonderful holiday by the sea through the generosity of the McHardy family. Bach year they have given us the use of their shearers' quarters, which are right on the beach at "Aramoana." "There everything that can be done has been done for us. Milk and meat have been supplied free, and all our daily wants attended to, and all this has been done by the late Mr McHardy and Mrs. McHardy. "Always at the end of our holiday Mr. and Mrs. McHardy have treated the children to a party at their homestead, and it was after that party two years ago that we last saw Mr. McHardy, when he said good-bye to us all so light-heartedly that neither he. nor we knew it would be the last farewell. "We are going to miss him more than we yet know. "As some one recently said of him, he would do anything for anyone at any time, and he has left us this standard to live up to. May he rest m peace and his family find some consolation m the memory of such a wnderful man."
