THE FINANCIAL POSITION.

Improvement continues, thank God. We have received £8,889 as against £6,981 at the end of May last year. But, to ascertain the true position m regard to our Budget commitments,

we must deduct £573 from this year's receipts, as this sum is earmarked for "Tanganyika." This brings our normal receipts down to £8316, and this is £1,335 ahead of last year's figures. Still, we always have to allow for the fact that our parochial treasurers may have been more diligent m forwarding moneys this year than last. If we did not give due weight to this possibility we might be deceived m regard to the true position. Yet we can be glad that your figures show an upward tendency, even as we must continue our prayers — our most earnest prayers, gifts and efforts to ensure the full "Budget" being raised. . We must remember that last year's offering was but little above a "depression" amount, being £14,852 from the whole province, whereas m our worst year, 1933, we provided £14,129. In a prosperous year like the present we should surely get the whole £16,500 of the Budget. What will our Heavenly Father think of us if we do not? Has He not given us good prices for our products? Unto whom much is given from them shall much be required. Oh, let us be generous m our thank-offerings to God, and please Him, as He has blessed us.
