PUKETAPU

The annual meeting of the Puketapu Parachial District was held on Thursday evening, 12th July. The vicar presented a very encouraging report of progress during the past year. He drew the attention of parishioners to the fact that the size of the parish had been considerably enlarged owing to the addition of the district of Marakakohu and Kereru. The accouts showed a slight deficit on the year's working, though better than the previous year. Really there is much to heartily thank God for. The vestry was able to see its way clear to do without the usual grant of £100 from the Diocese last year. The car fund had been re-started and the sum of £50 was to the credit of that account. The missionary contribution for .the year amounted to £75, £10 more than the previous year. The 6.D.F. contribution, though better than last year, was far from satisfactory. The Parish is very much indebted to the generosity of Mrs Kinross White, for the magnificent gift to the

parish church of a memorial organ. It is a beautiful instrument given m memory of Adrian Kinross White, who was killed m an air accident m England. The Bishop dedicated the organ on the Sunday evening before Easter before a packed church. The retiring vestry was sincerely thanked for its untiring labours and the following Church wardens and vestry elected: — Vicar's Warden, Sir Andrew Russell. People's Warden, Mr Harold Beamish. Vestry, Messrs J. N. Lowry, J. H. Absolum, W. Turner, J. White, G. Sanderson, C. T3. Nelson Smith, Mrs. J. White (secretary).
