DR. HUTCHENS C. BISHOP RESIGNS.

On Quinquagesima Sunday, the Rev.. Dr. Hutchens C. Bishop announced his resignation as rector of St. Philip's; Church, New York, after serving fortyseven years m that office. St. Philip's is the largest negro parish m America, having 3,000 communicants and a Church school of 1,200. By reason of his long service m a great work of his own making, Dr. Bishop has been a great influence ampng the coloured people of our Church m this country. He is succeeded m the rectorship by his son, the Rev. Shelton Hale Bishop, who has been an assistant priest at St. Philip's for the past nine years. —"Church Times."
