CHURCH UNION IN SOUTH INDIA.
The following resolutions were passeel unanimously at the meeting of the Episcopal Synod and Standing Committee of the General Council af the Church of India, Burma and Ceylon, tyeld m Calcutta on February sth: — (1) It has never by any action intended to convey, and it desires that it should not be interpreted as conveying, the impression thst m its opinion the ministries of other Christian bodies, at present m separation from us ? are of equally certain validity or identical with thp.se. pf the Churches which have retained tfce succession of Bishops. (2) Tho passing of that resolution has not m the least diminished the desire and intention of the whole Synod to do all m its power to secure that the ministry m the Church of South India, when it comes into being, should be a unified ministry under Bishops within the Historic Episcopate. The scheme has; yet to. be vpted on. by the Diocesan Councils, so that it cannot be regarded as likely that the question of final adaption will come befpre the General Qpuiicir earlier tb,an a, special sesssjpn m. 18)37 or the ordinary session m 1938.
