RINGATU BISHOP.

The Ringatu Church has m the past styled its president Bishop. Their late head, Bishop Ernera. who died recently, held very friendly feelings for the Anglican Church, and openly expressed the hope that they might become united with us. The meeting held at Ruatoki on New Year's

Day, which we report elsewhere, may have brought that union a little closer. As a result of the conference the Ringatus decided that they would not appoint a hew Bishop of their own, that they wished their children to be baptised into the Anglican Communion, and looked forWard to their ultimate absorption into that Communion. As this decision was clearly faultitated by the presence of the Bishop of Aotearoa at the meeting, the idea is readily created that they have accepted Bishop Bennett as their Bishop and an unauthorised statement has appeared m the Press to the effect that such a definite appointment had been made and that the Bishop of Aotearoa had become the Ringatu Bishop. We hope the account given, here will explain the position.
