Auokland After a long illness Mr. Norman Burton passed to his rest last January. He was a member of the Auckland Standing Committee, and of General Synod, and for nine years he edited the Auckland Church Gazette. In a sermon the Archbishop said: "The Church on earth has lost a faithful, a noble, and m many sense, a unique eon m Norman Burton. He had definite opinions, ho was never afraid to express them, but he was never known to do anything ungenerous. As a member of the Church, he put his great gifts and powers at the disposal of the Church. All of us who knew him have been struck by the wonderful pluck with which he stuck to Church work m physical disability. Perhaps the greatest thing m his life was the wonderfully calm resignation with which he faced Ms end. He placed himself m the hands of God happy and contented." The Rev. It. H. Dean Harper, one of the most lovable personalities m the diocese, honoured as lnuch m his old age as m his prime. Till within a few days of his passing he was able to take his habitual afternoon walk, and to minister spiritual help to the sick and suffering and to those of like years as himself. The B/ev. H. W. Smith has succeedcl the Eev. H. Williams as Vicar of Opawa. An exchange of cures has been arranged between the Rev. H. 0. Hanby, •Vicar of Cust, and the Rev. G. B. Nanson, Vicar of Belfast.
