ABBOTSFORD HOME, WAIPAWA

When this beautiful home was built .by the.trustees of.the. Lissie Rathbone Estate arid endowed up to £200 a year it was left to the rest of the Church people in he Diocese to furnish it and supply it with a regular and sufficient income. Many .were' liberal in helping the furnishing, but there are plenty of things which , are really necessary, which, the, : matron has never asked for on the grounds of economy. The Diocese is in financial straits at present and cannot do anything to supply these needs. Surely there are plenty of people who would like to supply some of these things and so help the 25 children for which the Church has made itself responsible. "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto'the one of the least of these My brethren ye have done it unto Me." 3 cane chairs; 3 wooden chairs; 2 fire screens; hearth rug; old linen for bandages; electric ring (water heater); gramophone (second hand); piano; swings out of doors; large size mincer; small tables; outdoor shelter for children ;. hat-rack for hall. Perhaps a parish or. several individuals would like to combine and supply one. of these. Don't do anything until you have written to the Matron.- so 'that vou-will not clash with others. Not much provision has been niade for the children's amusements'. The grounds are very bare, and there, is no shelter in the hot or cold weather.
