Puketapu.

On Wednesday m Easter Week at the residence of Mr Frank Hutchinson, junr., a quiet wedding was solemnised by the Vicar. The bridegroom, Mr William Woodward, a resident of Rissington for 15 years, has always been to the fore m helping m activities for the benefit of the district. The bride, Miss Fanny Louise Harrison, has been a popular resident of Havelock North and an ardent Church worker. After the ceremony those present were entertained at Omatua, after which the bridal pair left for Mr Hutchinson's cottage at Puketitiri. On their return to Rissington a week later an old-fashioned Cinderella dance was given m their honor by Mr and Mrs Frank Hutchinson, junr., when all the district took the opportunity of giving their good wishes m person. The happy pair were the recipients of numerous wedding presents and cheques. The news that the Bicknalls of Willowbrook had sold out came as a great surprise to us all. At an afternoon given to say farewell, there was a large attendance m the hall from all parts of the district. The Vicar pointed out that the Bieknalls had always been ready to assist m every good work. The hall and the church were lasting testimony to their efforts for the advancement of the neighborhood. Mr Ballantyne called to mind that there had been Bicknalls m Puketapu for 60 years. The number of people present on a busy afternoon showed the esteem m which they were held by the neighborhood, and on their behalf and on behalf of some who were unable to be present he wished them every good fortune for the future. Before calling on Mrs Kinross White to make the presentation the Vicar apologised for Mr Hutehinson and Mr Absolom, who had been prevented from coming. Mrs White, on behalf of the district, presented each of the young people with a handsome reminder of their friends m Puketapu, for which thanks were suitably returned by Mr J. W. Bicknall and Mr Shirley Bicknall. On the first Sunday m May two pairs of brass altar vases were dedicated by the Vicar to the Glory of God and m memory of Joseph and Isabella ..Bicknall. It is very fitting that there should be a permanent memorial m the church to those who were so instrumental m the raising of this House to the Glory of God. The vases, which were presented by their children, add greatly to the beauty of the altar.
