Standing Committee.

The Standing" Committee met on Thursday, November 15th. The Bishop reported that he had accepted Mr Eric Wilson, son of the Rev. G. D. Wilson, as a candidate for the ministry. His training' has been provided for. It was decided that the present forms of application for marriage license and declaration before marriage after banns now m circulation continue to be used, the. clergy will add. to them the extra questions to be asked. When new' forms are issued the additional questions will be added. It was reported that Mr Joseph McCoy, of Hastings, had left a legacy of £100 for St. Matthew's Church, Hastings. Matawai reported having- elected Mr R. W. Dyer, S.M., as its Synod representative m the place of Mr N. H. Shaw, resigned. Loans of £100 were granted to Clive for reduction of debt on the yiearage, and to Waerenga-a-hika for the . bliilding; of r a new church. , „Miss I£. the services' of: an assistant mistress, recommended by her, to commence duties m 1924. The number of pupils has now grown to 50. The house at the corner of Burns' road and .Napier terrace, opposite the Yen. Archdeacon Simkin's house, has been bought on behalf of the diocese and will be occupied by the Bishop, pending- the building of a See house. The building of a See Jiouse has been postponed, the money available being at present insufficient. A section has been bought at the rear of St. Mary's Home which gives access to the Home from Napier Terrace. Hitherto there was no access to the Home except by a narrow, steep winding footpath. The allowance to Maori clergy of £5 per child up to 15 years of age has been increased! to £10 per child.
