News and Notes.
We reimind our correspondents that owing to the Christmas holidays all matter fear our January issue must be m type by December 21st, and no parochial news can possibly be inserted this month unless it is m the editor's hands by the 18th. We call attention to two advertisements : (1) The offer of the Trustees of St. John 's, Auckland, of! ten Marsh
Scholarships; and (2) the vacancy for a Principal at St. Matthew's Collegiate School, Masterton. It is with keen disappointement that we have to inform our readers that on opening the tenders for the new . Abbotsford Home, Waipawa, the Building Committee discovered that the amount of the tenders was far m excess of the money available. The plans of the Home will have to be considerably altered, and only such parts of the Home built as are abso-
lutely necessary. The details will be considered by the Standing Committee on December 12th. "A very impressive scene was ■witnessed on the parade ground at 0 a.m, when 80 men of the C.Gr.A., 50 ■men of the C.L.1., and about 40 men of the C.M.G. formed three sides of a square, with the Rev. David — — filliiu,' Hie fourth side."
