Deaconess Esther Brand is beginning work in St. Matthew 's Parish, Hastings, preparatory to starting a Deaconess. House there; The Bishop has appointed Nurse Carter to be in charge of St. Mary's Home, Napier. . Hitherto the objects of that Home have been twofold: — 1. To shelter and train girls who have had a first fall and to enable them to make a fresh start. 2. To train women as Church workers. In future St. Mary's will be devoted tor the first object .only. The training of women for parochial or missionary work will be, carried on in the Home which it is hoped will be established in Hastings without long delay.
