■■■ Vicar: Jtev.'E.Sob&rißhc^^B^Since I last wrote I have with muchjjladijess to chronicle a succession of /gvftpahd' improvements to theChurch. The building has been painted white with red facings, the. old colours of and Ireland. These colours call to mind the crosses of St. Oeorge and St. Patrick. The white signifies purity, the special colour of .pur Saviour, and the red His blood. Thesecolours, the old colours of the army, are dearest of all to Anglicans, being the principal colours of the national Sarum Use. However beautiful the green and violet Roman colours of Trinity and Lent may be, they can never appeal m the same way to Anglicans. Our Church with the Royal Navy have the right to fly the Cross of Stl George as. their flag.. It is indeed an "Ensign for the peppies." :' The Vicar gave notice that a neW Prayer Book was needed for the Prayer Desk a few. Sundays ago, and. now one of the congregation has offered to give a suitable book. The Vicar said that hitherto he had supplied such books and m welcoming "this gift, trusted that it might be used for Prayers and Praises long after he was gone. Some generous churchmen have given ornamental iron gates and fence for the front of. the Church. The Vicar does not know their names, bub prays that. their liberality may be remembered before God for good. No time 1 m. the history of the parish has been richer mi gifts and offerings than the present year, nor have we ever Had more devoted Church officers. . Confirmation classes are now started and a good number of young people have offered themselves, and are attending the classes. The Vicar hopes that many of the older people who are not communicants will come forward and boldly confess Christ before an .unbelieving world, and seek the blessing conferred m the Laying on of Hands. The Mother's Union had a very successful meeting as usual on the third Wednesday of the mpnth. '.'".■
