Vicar: Rev. J. A. Lush, B.A. Curate, : Rev. Lionel MacJcay, B.A. S. Luke's, Havelock North. The Vicar is sorry that the notes for the " Gazette " last month were sent m too late. On January 28th the Clive Sunday School picnic was held at Clifton. The day was ideal, and everyone was happy. Energies were spent m games, sports, bathing and walking. On Sunday, February 6th, the prizes were presented by Mrs Quartley to the S. Luke's Sunday School^ scholars. The Schoolroom 1 was nicely decorated for the occasion. Mildred Ridgway and Jack Rich were presented with prizes for doing good papers m the Christmas Diocesan Examination. It was noted that th© highest marks for attendance were obtained by those who live furthest away : Bessie, Muriel, William and Fred Franklin, Peggy King, Ada Thomas, Mildred, Myra, and Elsie Riidigway, Jack Rich, and Dorothy Foster — all of whom live more than a mile away. On February 9th Mr Eric Rich read a paper on " Unity " to the C.E. M.S. The discussion was lively and interesting. On F?bruary 1 8th the Sunday School Teachers' meeting was held at the Vicarage, at which Mrs Crompton Smith was present to give information re the modern Kinder-?

garten system, and it was agrejed that we should immediately take steps to form a Sunday Kindergarten, and that for the purpose the Schoolroom be put into order. It was felt, however, that before much could be done, the problem of the Sunday School should be brought before the whale parish. On February 2 1st and 22nd the Rev. C. Ei. Fox, on furlough from, the Solomon Islands, was with us. We were all delighted to have a real li\«e Missionary, though it was evident he was not at all well. However, he went away feeling better for his visit, thanks to those who took him for motor drives. We certainly were helped to be more missionary. The lantern lecture on. the 22nd was a great help. March 2nd, the C.E.M.S. started the study of the Epistle to the Ephesians, vith the introduction. On March 23rd a paper on the " Sacramental System " was read to the C.E.M.S. March 24th, the G.F.S. re-started with a service m Church, followed by a meeting m the Schoolroom. Miss Chambers, after being admitted an Associate, was presented with a book as a token of love and good-will. She is to be married on April 6th. St. Mark's, Clive. The week-day services m Lent have heen well attended while th© weather was favourable. A box has been placed at the door of the Church to roceive offerings for beautifying the Sanctuary. The Rev. A.
