A Hostel for Girls.

(To the Editor.) Sir,'— Will you allow me to make, through your columns, an . appeal to the residents of Hawke's Bay to assist us m securing an offer which has been made to the Girls' Friendly Society by the Hawlke's Bay Ladies' Syndicate ? This Syndicate has kindly offered to give the G-.F.S. Hostel on condition that a building is erected within

twelve months. We have already about ;£350 m hand, and further sums are promised, but that is not enough to justify us m starting a 'building for which ;^'2oOo is required. We now make an urgent appeal to the people of Hawke's Bay to help us to secure this generous donation. I may add that this hostel will by no means be confined by G.F.S. members, but will be open to all women wanting board and lodgings at a reasonable price. Subscriptions may be sent to me at Taumata, Clyde Road, or to Mr W. J. Pallot, at the County Council Chambers, Napier. — I am, etc., EDITH WILLIAMS, President G.F.S. IVY ZIELE, 3 Secretary Hostel Fund.
