Death of Canon Goodyear.
The sympathy of the Diocese will go out to Mrs Goodyear and her family m their sorrow of bereavement. Canon Goodyear was for some time past m weak health, and on Sunday, January 18th, passed to his rest m God. Canon Goodyear came to this Diocese m the year 1878, and spent his ministerial life m the service of the Maori people. In recognition of the value of his work the Standing Comimittee and Cathedral Chapter last year elected him to the Canon's Stall m the Cathedral Church of the Diocese rendered vacant by the death of Canon Jordan. To this he was formally installed m October last. Canon Goodyear was the last of the Clergy whese stipend was paid by the Church Missionary Society.in the Training College of which he received his preparation for the Ministerial Office which he so worthily fulfilled.
