Ormondville.

Vicar : Rev. T. Fisher

The month's record includes two notable events. The Confirmation on the ' 26th October passed off very happily, and the congregations were large at both services. The Bishop was motored over from Dannevirke iafter the morning service by a Maori friend to Noreswood, where the Confirmation took place. These were the candidates : — Marjorie Beattie OldershaWe, Doris May Oldershaw, Eva Victoria Brabazon, Mary Irene Nicholson, Phylis Gertrude Fredricka Unwin, Annie Mary Mnlholland. By Mrs Bagley'sthoughtfulnesstheßishop was able to speak to each of the candidates after the service, m her house, and then sent on his way to Ormondville after afternoon tea. The pretty church at Ormondville was full by seven o'clock, when the procession of candidates, officers of the church and Bishop entered from the Sunday school-room adjoining, during the singing of the hymn " 0 Holy Christ Thy People Bless, who long to feel Thy Might."'. The Psalm, 97 and the lessons were special to the service ; Ezekiel 37 to verse 11 and Acts 8 verses, 12 to 18. The Hymn " Spirit of Mercy, Truth and Love," ended evening prayer; then the Vicar read the appointed Exhortation and presented the candidates, who were: — George Philip Crawford, Gorden Kinross Crawford, Alfred Thomas Dochary, Herbert Kitchener Mann, Reuben Schaare, Edward George Watson, Clifford Eric Williams, Bessie Benbow, Ellen Benbow, Dorothy Crossland. Daisy Tarry Hammond. Rose Hammond, and Susan Fothergill who, by reasons of infirmity, was confirmed privately. To these the Bishop gave a- short address and the Hymn "Come Holy Ghost our Souls Souls Inspire," by the congregation, sung as they knelt was followed By " The Laying on of Hands." The Bishop then preached the sermon, taking for text : " They used helps undergirding the Ship." The hymn " Onward Christian Soldiers " was then caught up heartily to Sullivan's joyous tune, then all knelt for the blessing. The Recessional Hymn was "My God accept my Heart this Day." The day ended by those who had come from a distance accepting refreshments which they found awaiting them m the class-room before they started for home. The festival of St. Simon and Jude fell on the Tuesday, and the Bishop celebrated the Divine Service before leaving for Napier. The other event of the month was of quite a different kind ; the bazaar to assist the general fund was held at Makotuku on Saturday, November 15th, on a day. decidedly inclined to " showery. " All parts of the district were represented, Norsewood was responsible for a general produce stall, Makotuku and Ormondville joined forces m a fancy store, Kopua did wonders with a lollie stall and a wellequipped Christinas tree, making a good display with the toys supplied by the toy tea which was the occasion of much merrifluent ofl. October 30th. Whetpkura, though

all were busy spending, very readily sent m very useful contributions. Every one worked like willing slaves, and are to be congratulated on the substantial benefit to the fund. It is hoped, when all expenses are paid, that there will he just over £40 to hand over to the Churchwardens. The thoughts of all now are being directed to the Christmas Day services. Celebrations of tlw festival will be Holy Communion at Makotuku at 8 a.m., at Norsewood at 9 a.m., and Ormondville Morning Prayer at 10 30, and choral celebration of Holy Communion at 11 a. m. On the Friday and Saturday m Christmas week, celebrations of Holy Communion will be at 10 a.m., those days being St. Stephen's Day and St. John's Day respectively. May it be a day of much spiritual refreshment and joy !
