A form of service authorised by the bishop for use m country districts has been printed by Messrs Ball and Co., Napier, the price being 4d a copy, or 30s pcr 1 100. It is practically a shortened form of morning and evening prayer, with numbered pages, followed by a selection of eight Psalms, and thir-ty-three well-known hymns. It is very well printed m large type, and should prove very useful to the Clergy and Lay Readers m country districts. The Rev. W. J. Simkin, who has been working m a large par-

ish m Stafford, England, arrived m Napier shortly before Easter, and went on by the Tangaroa to Wairoa. Mr Simkin was duly instituted as Vicar of the parish on the evening of Easter Day by Archdeacon Williams. The Bishop of Lichfield, m a letter to the Bishop, says, "I desire to commend the Rev. W. J. Simkin very heartily to you as a sincere and conscientious servant of Christ, and one whose assistance m the work of your diocese you may welcome. It will be pleasant to bear m mind the double link that will now exist between your distant diocese and Stafford, strengthening the bond which before united New Zealand with the diocese of Lichfield." The parish of Wairoa requires at once the work of two clergymen, and it is the Bishop's intention to have two unmarried men working together there if the financial arrangements can be made. Miss Griffen has returned from her visit to India, and resumed her work at the Mission House, Whakare ware wa . The Bishop desires to acknowledge the following sums towards the rebuilding of Hukarere girls' school : Anonymous (St. Michael's Christchurch) ss, St. Michael's Christchurch Day School children (Lenten self-denial offering), 16s, Nuhaka Maoris per Rev. W. P. Rangihuna 26s (additional offering).
