The Synod

We would remind our readers again of the arrangements made m connection -with the annual session of the Synod. On Thursday, October 27th; at 11 a.m., there will be a service of " dismissal " for the Eev. F; 0. Long, on the eve of his departure to take up missionary work m India. On Thursday afternoon there will be a conference of O.E.M.S. delegates and workers. On Thursday evening, m the Theatre Eoyal, there will be a meeting for men, and the election of the O.E.M.S. Council. All men are heartily invited to this meeting.

The Celebration of the Holy Communion, m connection with the opening of Synod, will be held m the Cathedral on Friday, Oct. 28th, at 11 a.m.; to which the members of Synod are specially invited ; we shall be glad to see any . members of the Church present at this service. The Synod will open at 4 p.m., and m the evening there will be a missionary meeting m the Athenceum, when we hope to see a good muster of Churchpeople. On Saturday morning, October 29th, there will be a "quiet morning" for the clergy, conducted by the Eev. . J. H. Eogers. On Saturday afternoon, the Bishop and Mrs Averill will be " at home" at Bishopscourt. On Sunday, Oct. 80th, there will be special Synod services at the Cathedral. The Bishop will preach m the morning, and the Eev. J. H. Eogers m the evening. The Synod will be continued on Monday afternoon, October 31st. The Bishop desires to meet the clergy m Conference on Tuesday morning, Nov. Ist, at 10.30 a.m., and would be glad to receive, from the clergy, notice of any subjects which they might desire to have discussed at this Conference. The Bishop would be glad if the clergy would always use the forms obtainable at the Diocesan Office for the lists of Confirmation candidates. All plans for new buildings must be submitted to the Bishop and Diocesan Trustees. They should be sent to the Diocesan office. Ordinations. — Letters of Orders have been issued to : — Wiremu Arameta Te Waaka, and Himepiri Munro, who were ordained Deacons by the Bishop on Sunday, 28th August, at Holy Trinity Church, Grisborne ; and to Eatema Te Awetokuku, Peni Te Uamairangi Hakiwai, Paraone Turei, EewetiTuhoroutaKohere, and Wiremu Katane Paraire Eangihuna, who were ■ordained Priests. Licenses. — Permission to officiate m the Diocese has been granted to the Eev. William Eobinson. Permission to officiate has been granted to the Eev. Wiremu A. Te Waaka (for the Maori District of Taupo), Eev. Himipiri Munro (Maori District of Hawke'sßay), and Matene Keepa (Maori District of Te Whaiti and Ualatra). Licenses to the Cure of Souls have been issued to the Eev. Eatema Te Awetokuku (Whakatane and Urewera Missionary District), Eev, Peni Te U.

Hakiwai (Euatoki Missionary District), Eev. Paraone Ttirei ( Wh'a'repohga and Tuparoa), Eev. Eeweti T. Kohere (Te Kawa-Kawa), and Eev. Wiremu 1 K. P. Eangihuna (Nukutaurua 1 ).
